Back By Popular Demand: More Movie Reviews

I was under the impression that my movie reviews were not appreciated. However, I have received a few comments lately from blog readers that they were somewhat helpful. So, here we go again. I have, as usual, watched some gems and some duds recently. Here are a few worth mentioning. By the way, the best stuff I'm watching lately is 24 and Lost, the best shows on television. If you don't already watch them, you'll just have to take my word for it because they are "storyline" shows. You can't just decide to start watching unless you wanna be really confused about what's going on. On to the reviews!!!!!!

I watched this one with Maddie and we both liked it a lot. In fact, she has watched it several times over the last few weeks. How can you not like a chihuahua that sounds like Drew Barrymore? Also, the one who sounds like George Lopez is hilarious and was my favorite character. I give a big thumbs up to the casting people. They were very lucky to find dogs with such recognizable voices. Watch this with your kids if you have any. Don't watch it at all if you don't. Not that it's a bad movie (it's not), but you can better spend your "movie time" watching other stuff, unless you just like kiddie movies.

I am a Netflix member. When you look at movies it will show you a list of movies which are similar to the one you are reading about. Jordan hasn't watched very many Adam Sandler movies, which is a travesty. I was going through them on Netflix and adding some classics to my list for her to watch. This "Grandma's Boy" kept popping up with each Sandler movie I viewed, so I decided to check it out. It stars Alan Covert, who you will immediately recognize from past Sandler flicks. You will also recognize his voice from Sandler's comedy albums. This movie was produced by Sandler for Happy Madison Productions, which is why it kept showing up on Netflix with each Sandler movie I viewed. It's a pretty funny movie. Jordan even liked it, though she probably wouldn't admit it. In addition to Alan Covert you will take notice of a few other classic "role players" from past Sandler movies. It seemed like every 10 minutes I was telling Jordan, "that guy was in Waterboy, that guy was in Littly Nicky", etc. Check this one out if you want a crazy, funny movie some night and nothing "must see" is in.

One of my all time favorite movies, The Thomas Crown Affair. This was on tv one night and Jordan said she had never watched it, so we did. I could watch this a thousand times and still love it. The end is great. Sorry, I feel like that last sentence takes away from the whole movie. I will rephrase. The whole movie is great. If you haven't been exposed to The Thomas Crown Affair, get exposed very soon. You won't be disappointed.

Changeling is an excellent movie. Angelina Jolie is a single mother who's child is abducted. After a few months, the LAPD comes to her and tells her that they have found her child. Problem is, she says it isn't her child. The LAPD is adamant that she is crazy and they don't want the bad publicity of giving her the wrong child, so they have her thrown into a mental institution. This movie shows the corruption of the LAPD, and also shows a determined mother who will stop at nothing in her effort to get her son back. I was very impressed with Angelina in this movie. It is a true story, which always grabs peoples attention. Get this one next time you rent one.

Another silly movie. I watch a lot of those. This one has some good moments. Overall, I would say it's probably a little overhyped. Maybe it wasn't that hyped, but I can remember seeing lots of trailers during ballgames and things that I watch on tv. Maybe it was because of the demographic they were going after. Anyway, not great, not terrible. If you see it, you'll laugh. If you don't see it, your life won't have a void.

Another classic McConaughey/Hudson movie. You've seen one, you've seen 'em all. Actually if you've seen How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, you've seen a mediocre movie that is twice as good as Fool's Gold. I've never liked Kate Hudson much. Jordan says it's because I have bigger boobs than her. This movie wasn't a total waste of time. I liked it enough that I wanted to see how it ended, but that's about it. McConaughey was so good in Tropic Thunder that I at least owed it to him to finish Fool's Gold. I watched it for all the Blog Nation. Now you don't have to. You're welcome.
